Christmas Raffle

The Lighthouse Foundation is holding a Christmas raffle to raise money. James Adam, our treasurer, very kindly donated the money for this event. For the chance to win a luxury Christmas Hamper containing all kinds of seasonal goodies worth £100, drop in or call the office to buy a ticket, they are £1 each. The tickets will be drawn on 17th December.

Christmas Fair

On the 9th December we will be hosting a small Christmas Fair in our offices in Portland Road. Stalls will include home baking and gifts with free tea and coffee for all.

Get your Calendars here!

To raise funds for the kid's group we are selling a 2012 Calendar. There is only a limited number available so be quick. If this is successful we will do this every year.

Naloxone Training

On Thursday 11th August 2011 the Lighthouse Foundation delivered the first ever session of Naloxone training to families in the whole of Ayrshire.

Naloxone is a legal prescription drug (Prescription Only Medicine) which is opioid antagonist, this means in the case of an opiate overdose (i.e. heroin, methadone etc.). Naloxone when administered can reverse the effects of the overdose within a very short period of time. This is an essential first aid intervention which can buy invaluable time until the paramedics arrive to care for the casualty.

The training is delivered in a professional, but sensitive and empathetic manner and was both gratefully and enthusiastically received by our families.

The Scottish Drugs Forum have expressed their gratitude at the work we are doing promoting Naloxone as an essential first aid intervention and now consider us to be a lead Naloxone training provider.

We are available to deliver sessions in house to families of the Lighthouse Foundation and also able to deliver training outside to other organisations. Please contact Louise for further information.

We are always looking for articles or interesting information for our newsletters.  If you would like to share something, a story, a poem, a joke, some knowledge you have gained that you'd like to share or an interesting piece of information, please email us at lighthousekillie@aol.com and we will consider publishing it.
