Job Description –S.T.O.P Drugs Coordinator

 

The Lighthouse Foundation, a support group for the families where drug misuse is a problem, was founded in 2001 by a group of parents anxious to support each other by giving advice information and assistance.

 

1. Conditions of Service

 

a)     The STOP Coordinator will be employed by The Lighthouse Foundation.

b)     The STOP Coordinator will be salaried at £16,500 per annum payable monthly in arrears plus commission (to be arranged)

c)      The post carries an entitlement of 21 days paid holiday per annum  plus Public Holidays

d)     This post will be reviewed annually and is dependant on funding

e)     Hours are 35hours per week which may include evenings.

 

2.  Duties and Responsibilities of STOP Coordinator

 

Working in partnership with named organisations to educate individuals, families and the wider community of Ayrshire on basic drug awareness, the first signs of overdose, suicide intervention and how to resuscitate a person who overdoses.

 

The main tasks in this post include:

 

a)         Organise and coordinate training events throughout Ayrshire

i) To develop and deliver the STOP Drugs Education Saves Lives project in accordance with the Project Managers wishes.

ii) To be responsible for ensuring that the project is available to the community and families specifically in rural areas

iii) To liaise with Strathclyde Police to educate the community of Ayrshire on the legal implications of drugs and possession thereof.

vi) To liaise with the Princes Trust to deliver STOP as part of their 12 week development programme

v)  To liaise with the volunteer coordinator to ensure TLF volunteers are trained to deliver small training events

vi) To meet the targets as specified by the Project Manager

 

b)        To market the STOP Drugs training package

(i) Build relationships with private businesses in order to sell the STOP training package

(ii) Present tailored packages within the private sector

 

c)         To maintain records relating to the STOP Drugs Project

(i) Ensure measurable feedback is obtained to enable evaluation and monitoring to be carried out on a monthly basis

(ii) Ensure information given is up to date and accurate

(iii) To be responsible for the general administration of the STOP project.

 

c)         Develop partnerships with other services

(i) Liaise with other services to enable The Lighthouse to meet its aims.

(ii) Ensuring that effectiveness is increased through shared best practices 

(iii) Preparing presentations for other services to highlight the aims of The Lighthouse

 

d)        Assisting with, reviewing and planning the development of the service

(i)To assist in identifying any gaps that there are in the service already provided, specifically relating to the STOP Drugs Project.

(ii) Ensure that staff have access to up to date accurate information relating to drug misuse.

(ii) Promote the working ethos of The Lighthouse

 

e)         General

(i) Participating in working parties as required

(ii) Attend training courses as may be required

(iii) Assist in publicity activities to promote The Lighthouse within Ayrshire

(iv) Any other duties as required by the Project Manager

 

Accountability of the STOP Coordinator

 

Accountability is to the Project Manager of The Lighthouse Foundation.
