Christmas Raffle

The Lighthouse Foundation is holding a Christmas raffle to raise money. James Adam, our treasurer, very kindly donated the money for this event. For the chance to win a luxury Christmas Hamper containing all kinds of seasonal goodies worth £100, drop in or call the office to buy a ticket, they are £1 each. The tickets will be drawn on 17th December.

Christmas Fair

On the 9^th December we will be hosting a small Christmas Fair in our offices in Portland Road. Stalls will include home baking and gifts with free tea and coffee for all.

To raise funds for the kid's group we are selling a 2012 Calendar. There is only a limited number available so be quick. If this is successful we will do this every year.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Notice is hereby given that the second Annual General Meeting of the above company will be held on Wednesday 28th September 2011 at 7pm at 40A Portland Road, Kilmarnock for the following purposes:

To consider the report by the Board of Trustees on the activities of the Foundation
To consider the annual accounts of the Foundation
To receive the report by the Independent Examiner
To elect/re-elect trustees to the Board of Trustees and re-election of Independent Account
To fix the annual subscription

The Lighthouse Foundation has been fortunate to have some patrons join us over the summer. These include singers Jimmy Sommerville, Edi Reeder and Jim Diamond who have been impressed with the work that has been done by the Lighthouse Foundation since it was established in 2001.

Make a Date for the Next Psychic Night

Due to the success of the last psychic night the Lighthouse Foundation are hosting another psychic afternoon/evening at café deli ‘Murrys’ 101 Main Street, Prestwick. This will take place on the 16^th May starting at 3pm. June Harrison and David Cameron, highly renowned and experienced psychics, will give 20 minute readings at a cost of £16.

Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner

The Lighthouse Foundation attended the annual Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce dinner held at Ayr Racecourse in March. Hosted by stand-up comedian and broadcaster Fred MacAulay. Over 450 Business from across the region were in attendance to see the presentation of the Ayrshire Excellence Awards for Service, Manufacturing and Social Economy.

The Lighthouse Foundation were selected as the winner of the 'Social Economy' award for providing evidence to demonstrate superior level of scoring using the European Model for Business Excellence in 2010.

Car Boot Sale

The Lighthouse Foundation will be continuing it's series of fund raising car boot sales within the Grand Hall, Kilmarnock starting from February 2011. Goods can be delivered from 8am onwards at the loading bay at the rear of the hall, access will be allowed until 4pm. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to assist you.

Dates are as follows:

Saturday 12 March 2011 - 9am until 3pm (Access 8am)
Saturday 9 April 2011 - 9am until 3pm (Access 8am)

'Any profit you make on the day are yours to keep'.

Anyone interested in hiring a table should contact us as soon as possible as special discounts are available so please get in touch. There will also be a Tombola with prizes to be won.

Payments can be made via Paypal or alternatively by cash or cheque handed in to our offices. Payments which are made are non refundable and must be received at least 14 days prior to the date of the sale. Please email lighthousekillie@aol.com or call 01563 521 343 if you require more details.

Psychic Night

The Lighthouse Foundation wishes to thank Carol who hosted a psychic afternoon/evening at her café deli ‘Murrys’ 101 Main Street, Prestwick on the 27^th January to raise funds for us. June Harrison and David Cameron, highly renowned and experienced psychics, kindly did 20 minute readings and donated £270 to the charity. The event was a huge success and we are very grateful to Carol, June and David for their support and, due to its success, will be holding another one in 3 to 4 months so watch out for details on the web.

Donation by Land Engineering

Ayrshire based company Land Engineering raised £2,090 for the Lighthouse Foundation thanks to cycling enthusiasts from the company taking part in the annual Pedal Power for Scotland event. Three Ayrshire charities benefited from the sums raised; The Lighthouse Foundation, Ayrshire Cancer Hospice and Sportsability. THANK YOU Land Engineering.

Eco Garden

The Lighthouse Foundation has been awarded £2,878, by the Gannett Foundation – the charitable arm of the US corporation that owns Newsquest Media Group, whose titles include The Herald newspaper. This award will be used to fund the ECO garden which will be built over the coming months as a form of therapy and education, teaching clients how to grow their own food and plants in an environmentally friendly way. We will be growing plants and vegetables by using organic and sustainable products avoiding chemicals. The food grown will be sold locally to help fund the project.
