How it's used

Cocaine is pretty much a gritty powder which has to be ground down by a blade, credit/bank card etc.  It is usually snorted into the nose usually through a rolled up note.  Some may rub it onto the gums.  It can also be injected

Possible Symptoms

Provides a feeling of exhilaration, well-being, strength, alertness and an abundance of energy and elation.  User gains confidence and loses inhibitions.  Can be followed by a rapid comedown with the user feeling very hung over, no energy and poor mental health.  Suppresses eating and sleeping patterns and affects sexual functions.

Some things to look for

Folded wraps of paper/foil or small zip lock bags.  Mirror, razor blades, straw/tubes/rolled up notes for sniffing.  White powdery residue on smooth surfaces.  Constant sniffing and/or sore nose; white powder residue around nose.  Dilated pupils, jerky movements, high colouring, sweaty, rapid breathing.  Mood swings, weight loss, changed sleeping patterns.  May use tranquillisers, alcohol or cannabis to ease the comedown

Dangers

Can cause damage to the inside of the nose, severe weight loss, heart, blood pressure and circulation problems (risk of heart attack).  Digestive track problems (e.g. stomach ulcers) Risk of stroke, seizures and coma, Paranoia and psychological disorders.  Regular use can lead to physical and psychological addiction.  An extremely costly drug to use, therefore can easily lead to financial problems.  Cocaine mixed with alcohol produces a third drug cocaethanol.  This produces even greater pressure on the heart.
